A few weeks ago we wrote about the spike: the charts, the realtime message quota we blew through, the scramble to migrate off Supabase’s free tier before it turned into a bill we couldn’t pay. It was a good problem to have, but it was still, at the end of the day, just numbers on a dashboard. Lines going up. Dots on a map. We had no idea who any of these people actually were.
And then yesterday, this showed up in the Couplescade contact form:
Hello we’ve been playing through your website for some time now and it’s been very fun more power and love to this website and i hope sooner to have more games to come thank you and we love you
That’s it. No ask, nothing to reply to(we replied, of course). Just someone taking a minute out of their day to tell some strangers running a website that they love it.
Okay, but why a whole post about two lines
Bots don’t fill out contact forms. Marketing budgets (we don’t have one) didn’t buy this. Nobody’s mom wrote this. This is a real couple(as in any two people), somewhere in the world, who found Couplescade on their own, kept coming back to it, and cared enough to say so unprompted, at whatever hour of whatever day they wrote it.
The growth post answered “is anyone actually using this?” This answers the better question: “does it matter to them?” Turns out, yes.
